Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
- Admitted to practise law in Australia and holds, or is eligible to obtain and maintain, an appropriate current Australian practising certificate.
Legal and Commercial Expertise
- Strong hands-on capability in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on commercial law matters.
- Demonstrated ability to independently conduct commercial negotiations and represent the Company in discussions with external parties.
- Sound practical knowledge of commercial law, contract law, Australian Consumer Law, corporate and regulatory compliance requirements, employment/workplace law and dispute management.
- Practical experience in intellectual property, brand protection and insurance-related legal matters.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice that balances legal risk with commercial objectives and operational requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly, listen to and understand business needs, and communicate constructively with non-legal stakeholders and senior management.
- Strong stakeholder management, collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust, work constructively across functions, resolve differing views and maintain effective working relationships, together with strong problem-solving, analytical, research and prioritisation skills.
Technology and Process Improvement
- Comfortable adopting new technology and AI tools and able to identify practical opportunities to improve legal workflows and service delivery.
- Ability to apply sound judgement to confidentiality, privacy, privilege, information security and accuracy risks when using technology and AI.
